On November 10, my hiking buddy Michael and I hiked partway up Mount Moosilauke, in central New Hampshire. The air was warm for November. Ground fog hung above the snow on the Snapper trail:

And drifted across the Carriage Path in the wind:
As we climbed higher, we found ourselves in the clouds, not just in ground fog. Michael hikes upward through the mushy snow, amongst tracks made by other hikers before us:

There were tracks made by other creatures, too. In case you can't read the numbers on the ski pole, this paw print was was more than 10cm long. We were pretty sure it was a bear:
